Does the future have a future? At a time, when the future generates more fear than hope, the question arises of how we can (re)discover the future as a creative space for imagination. Past events, developments, and present conditions always inscribe certain coordinates of possible future archaeologies into the here and now. But a different thinking and talking about the future leads to a different thinking and talking about the present. Timelapse is a portal to speculative imaginings of possible futures, fictions, and alternative narratives through multiple artistic lenses. Art as a speculative tactic of future explorations ignites fantasies, mobilizes creative imagination, and shows that a different future is possible. The exhibition invites visitors to think for themselves about the future, how it is perceived, imagined, and shaped, and to reflect on their own positioning within in it.
